This Privacy Policy describes how the Croquet app ("the App," "we," "us") handles information when you use it. We built this app to be as privacy-respecting as possible — we do not collect personal information, run ads, or sell data to anyone.
Information We Collect
The App collects the following limited information:
Anonymous usage analytics. We collect basic, non-identifying analytics about how the App is used — such as which features are opened, session length, crash reports, and general performance data. This helps us fix bugs and improve the App. This data is not linked to your name, email, or any personal identity.
Game Center data. If you choose to enable Game Center, Apple manages achievements and leaderboard data on our behalf. We only receive the minimum information needed to display scores and achievements (such as your Game Center alias and score values). We do not store this data on our own servers, and Apple's own privacy policy governs how Game Center handles your account information.
Multiplayer game data (iMessage). If you play a multiplayer game through the iMessage extension, the player names you enter and the live game state (turn order, ball positions, scores) are shared directly between the devices in that iMessage conversation, the same way any iMessage content is shared. This data is not sent to or stored on our servers — it stays within the message thread, governed by Apple's iMessage infrastructure.
Information We Do Not Collect
We do not require account creation, sign-up, or login (other than optional Game Center).
We do not collect your email address, phone number, or real name.
We do not track your precise location.
We do not access your contacts, photos, or microphone.
We do not serve third-party advertising.
We do not sell or rent your data to anyone, for any reason.
How We Use Information
The limited analytics data we collect is used only to:
Understand which features people use, so we can improve the App
Identify and fix crashes or bugs
Monitor general app performance and stability
Data Sharing
We do not share, sell, or rent any data to third parties for marketing or advertising purposes. Game Center data is shared only with Apple as required for that feature to function. Multiplayer game data via iMessage is shared only with the other participant(s) in that conversation, as a normal function of the iMessage platform.
Children's Privacy
The App does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since the App does not collect names, emails, or other identifying account information, no personal data is gathered from users of any age beyond the anonymous analytics and optional Game Center/iMessage features described above.
Data Retention
Anonymous analytics data is retained only as long as necessary to analyze app performance and improve the App. Multiplayer game data sent via iMessage is not retained by us at all — it exists only within the message thread on your and your contact's devices, subject to Apple's iMessage retention policies.
Your Choices
You can disable Game Center integration at any time in your device's Settings, which will stop achievement and leaderboard syncing.
You can decline to use the iMessage multiplayer feature if you do not wish to share player names or game state with another participant.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
